You should test ride the 850 and F800 and probably the 2018 Tiger 800 XCx/ or XCa as well. These are less dirt oriented than the KTM, but more comfortable on sealed, where the majority of ADV bikes spend their time. The 850 and Tiger have Cruise Control. Downside of the 850 is that it is a new model.

The whole ambience of the 1050 is a lot less daunting than the bigger KTMs. Underneath it all the 1050 Adventure still sports an LC8 engine housed by fundamentally the same chassis found on the “bigger”, KTM 1190 Adventure model. It “stands alongside its siblings” KTM’s blurb will tell, but there-in lies a small problem with the 1050
